It’s something every parent worries about. Sometimes we skip capturing these moments because we worry the kids might get upset or feel shy in front of the camera. But you don’t need to miss out on these memories — they grow up so fast, and every chapter is worth remembering.
I know sometimes kids don’t engage straight away, and parents can start to feel anxious. A little gentle prep makes a huge difference, and the rest is my job. I’ll guide everything so it feels natural and easy.

One thing that helps a lot is talking to your kids early. Let them know what’s coming in a light and fun way.

The more they understand, the more relaxed and excited they’ll feel on the day.
Talk about why these photos matter. Let them know they’ll love looking at them in the future, that you can share them with grandparents, and that afterwards you’ll enjoy some lovely family time together.
You can also talk about where the photos might go, like on the wall at home or in their bedroom. This helps build excitement and makes them feel proud of themselves.
If you’re pregnant, make sure your child feels special and involved.
Don’t make the session all about the bump.
Let them know it’s a family moment, not just about the baby who’s on the way. Even if they’re not feeling jealous, it’s important they feel celebrated and included.
I let them be themselves — running, laughing, playing with the family. This is what creates happy, real memories, not stiff, posed photos that stress them out and only last 10 minutes.
I connect with your little one from the very beginning and take small breaks for solo shots of you, so the kids can rest and then join back in.

Feeling included makes them excited and confident.

Make your kids feel like little helpers on the day of the shoot. Give them small roles, let them choose a prop, or show you their favourite game.
Remember, this session is about family — not just a milestone. Encourage them to be themselves, show their favourite moves, laugh, jump, and dance. These are the moments that make your photos truly joyful and real.
