When should I book?

If you’re wondering when to book your maternity session, you’re definitely not alone. One of the most common questions I get from expecting mums is exactly that: “When should I book?”

The sweet spot usually falls between 28 and 33 weeks. Around this time, your belly is beautifully round and glowing, but you’re still feeling comfortable enough to move around, walk, and really enjoy the experience.

After about 34 weeks, some mums start feeling more tired, swollen, or uncomfortable. Walking on uneven ground or standing for a while — especially outdoors — can get trickier. And honestly, I want you to feel your best, not just look your best in photos.

Booking after 34 weeks can be a bit risky because if something unexpected happens — like health issues, rain, or whatever else — you still have time to reschedule without the stress of the baby arriving early.

I had a mum who booked her session for 36 weeks, and guess what? It rained for two weeks straight, so we ended up doing only the newborn photos later. So really, the sooner you book, the more flexibility and peace of mind you’ll have.

Now, a little heads up from me: even if you already know when you want to do the shoot, please don’t wait until the last minute to book.

Booking just two weeks before your ideal date can mean your favourite photographer might already be fully booked. Or you might not have enough time to plan and spread out the payments in a way that works for you.

So, if you want to make sure you get the date and time that feels right for you, and avoid last-minute stress, reach out early. Let’s lock it in, and give you the space to enjoy this special experience properly.

Pregnancy is such a powerful, beautiful season in your life. Your body is doing something extraordinary — and it deserves to be honoured with photos that truly reflect that.

Let’s capture this chapter while you’re still feeling connected, present, and glowing.
